The Works of Olivier Raab

Galerie Moderne presents The Works of Olivier Raab, covering the last ten years, and showing the different subject matters and techniques he has developed during this period; ranging from the simple interiors of '83-'84 to the figure paintings of the '90's, through the more dense and dramatic paintings such as "Locomotive" 1986 or the more familiar image of the "New York Skyscape".

Always experimenting with new images, he has been faithful to his traditional techniques allowing him to mix the sometimes with other media, when a more textured effect was required. Dealing with paint, brushes and canvas, as well as composition has always been at the fore-front of his work in which the light plays an important and sometimes dramatic role. When interested in movement Olivier Raab tries to explore different ways of "framing" his image in a fashion more familiar in film making, having a passion for cinema in general.
